East Haddam Events
New Photos added 9/19/07
Events within a community, whether of great or minor significance, help
shape that community over time. A perfect example for East Haddam
was the construction of the Swing Bridge across the Connnecticut River in 1913.
This made daily transportation, the shipping of goods and employment that
much easier than dependence upon the ferries.
These restored photographs help us
envision what life was like in earlier times, from the
hardships of a major snowstorm to the dedication and celebration of the Swing Bridge.
